This workshop will assist non-driver trained OTs to understand vehicle modifications options to assist with accessing vehicles, provide a general overview of the process of vehicle modifications for drivers, and understand the NDIS vehicle modification operational guidelines.

NB: This workshop will provide high level information and examples – it is not in-depth training to be able to prescribe wheelchair accessible vehicles (a full one day workshop with OT Driver Education is recommended to be competent with this).

NB: if the client is a driver and wishing to apply for wheelchair stowage, it is likely that an OT driving assessment is required to demonstrate safe driving performance.

About the Presenter: 

 

Jenny Gribbin has been an OT since 2005 and was interested in the area of driving assessment from a pretty early stage; she completed the driving training in 2012 and started her business Driving Well Occupational Therapy in Brisbane in 2016 to be able to provide services to clients needing this service. She loves being able to help people to be safe and independent, or to give them an opportunity to have their driving assessed, or to access the community to do the things and they and love to do. The rollout of the NDIS enabled thousands of Australians to have better options for accessing a vehicle and the community.
