- Understand sensory processing, sensory processing disorder and key subtypes including sensory modulation, sensory based motor and sensory discrimination challenges
- Identify signs of over responsive and under responsive processing across all eight sensory systems
- Use structured assessment processes including developmental history, sensory questionnaires and observation to interpret sensory needs and functional impact
- Explore intervention strategies such as remedial approaches, accommodations, environmental modifications, sensory diets and interoception based supports while considering neuro affirming practice
- Communicate sensory patterns clearly in reports and provide recommendations tailored to modulation and discrimination needs

About the Presenter
Nikki Cousins is the Director of Action Occupational Therapy, a boutique practice in the Hunter Region, NSW.
She specialises in wheelchair prescription, seating and positioning, and has extensive experience supporting clients with neurological and physical conditions.
Nikki has presented at national conferences including ATSA and OTA, and delivers training in areas including sensory processing, supported decision-making and daily living skills.
She is a board member of ARATA and a strong advocate for evidence-informed, person-centred practice.
Nikki also enjoys mentoring clinicians navigating complex cases and is the co-host of the OT Unplugged podcast, where she shares insights on contemporary OT practice in the NDIS context.
