Part 1: Understanding the Reforms

• Navigate plan changes, including variations, reassessments and reviews of decisions
• Understand the NDIS Support Lists, replacement supports and reasonable and necessary considerations
• Explore Support Determinations and what they mean for funding and OT recommendations
• Understand the High Support Needs pathway and evidence required for complex support needs
• Explore the changing definition of functional capacity and what it may mean for OT assessment
• Understand what decision-makers need to see in your evidence
• Prepare for upcoming changes, including mandatory registration

Part 2: Strengthening OT Assessment, Evidence & Recommendations 

• Target your assessment to the specific decision being made and evidence required
• Build a clear evidence trail from disability and functional impact through to support need and outcome
• Gather and triangulate evidence from observations, functional assessment, standardised tools and other sources
• Interpret assessment findings rather than simply reporting scores or observations
• Make your clinical reasoning clear and easy for the reader to follow
• Write stronger recommendations that clearly explain what support is required, how much, why and the intended outcome
• Structure reports so key evidence and recommendations are easy to find
• Streamline report writing by removing repetition, unnecessary history and generic information
