Understanding ILO
- Define the purpose of ILO and how it supports participant choice in home and living
- Interpret the ILO eligibility criteria and link disability to support needs
Assessment and Evidence
- Complete a structured functional capacity assessment for ILO
- Analyse functional skills, support needs and risk factors across daily living
- Identify primary and supplementary supports in line with ILO models of care
- Determine the participant’s ILO level of support and Exploration and Design requirements
- Apply effective strategies for gathering evidence, including logs, interviews and collateral
- Use clear descriptive language that accurately reflects disability impact
Report Writing
- Write an ILO report that follows required sections and aligns with NDIS expectations
- Present eligibility, risks, support structure and transition recommendations
- Provide justification for ILO as the most appropriate model of support

About the Presenter
Tiffany Hurwitz is an Occupational Therapist with extensive experience in the NDIS space, with a keen interest in Assistive Technology, SIL and SDA and capacity building supports to enhance independence and participation for NDIS participants.
Tiffany has been an integral part of Verve OT since 2021, first as the organisation’s first full-time therapist and later expanding her role to encompass team leadership and clinical supervision.
Tiffany has played a pivotal role in restructuring SIL, SDA and ILO assessment and report writing processes across several businesses, ensuring greater efficiency and compliance. She’s also ventured beyond traditional OT roles, developing a workplace readiness program for a social enterprise and providing clinical consultancy and delivery of national online webinars for an NDIS connections platform.
Following a temporary sea change to the Philippines, Tiffany now contributes to Verve OT Learning, stepping outside of direct clinical work to focus on the development of workshop content, training resources, provide website support, graphic design and social media strategy. Tiffany is looking forward to continuing her work as a workshop presenter at Verve OT Learning, contributing to the professional development of Occupational Therapists.
