• Gather meaningful family information using interviews, consent discussions, genograms and family-sensitive communication
• Identify family strengths and build collaborative, strengths-based therapeutic relationships
• Assess family functioning and carer wellbeing using practical approaches and validated assessment tools
• Build family capacity through education, skill development, routines and problem solving
• Collaborate effectively with families, support teams and community services to improve outcomes
• Apply ten practical strategies to strengthen family engagement throughout the therapy process
• Develop self-care strategies that support sustainable Occupational Therapy practice when working with complex family situations

This workshop is designed for Occupational Therapists who work with NDIS participants and recognise that successful outcomes often depend on meaningful family collaboration.

It will be particularly useful for:

• Occupational Therapists supporting children or adults whose families play an active role in assessment, intervention or ongoing care
• Community and rehabilitation Occupational Therapists wanting practical strategies to strengthen therapeutic relationships with families
• Occupational Therapists working with participants experiencing complex disability, acquired brain injury or multiple psychosocial challenges
• Clinicians wanting greater confidence navigating family dynamics, cultural considerations and collaborative practice
